Demi Moore is now a first-time Golden Globe winner. <\/p>\n
On Sunday, Moore won for best female actor in a film \u2014 musical or comedy for her performance in \u201cThe Substance.\u201d <\/p>\n
\u201cI really wasn\u2019t expecting that. I\u2019m just in shock right now,\u201d Moore said when she took the stage. \u201cI\u2019ve been doing this a long time, like over 45 years, and this is the first time I\u2019ve ever won anything as an actor and I\u2019m just so humbled and so grateful.\u201d <\/p>\n
Moore, 62, recalled an exchange with a movie producer about 30 years ago who called her a \u201cpopcorn actress.\u201d <\/p>\n
\u201cAt that time, I made that mean that this wasn\u2019t something that I was allowed to have,\u201d she said of her win. \u201cAnd I bought in and I believed that and that corroded me over time to the point where I thought a few years ago that maybe this was it. Maybe I was complete, maybe I\u2019ve done what I was supposed to do.\u201d <\/p>\n
She said that the script for \u201cThe Substance\u201d came to her while she was in \u201cthis low point\u201d of her life. <\/p>\n
\u201c(Then) I had this magical, bold, courageous, out of the box, absolutely bonkers script come across my desk called \u2018The Substance,\u2019 and the universe told me that you\u2019re not done,\u201d Moore continued. <\/p>\n
\u201cThe Substance\u201d is a feminist fable with a dark warning about the pitfalls of blindly chasing youth, written and directed by Coralie Fargeat of France. <\/p>\n
\u201cI\u2019ll just leave you with one thing that I think this movie is imparting,\u201d Moore said of the film. \u201cIn those moments, when we don\u2019t think we\u2019re smart enough, or pretty enough, or skinny enough, or successful enough, or basically just not enough: I had a woman say to me, \u2018Just know, you will never be enough, but you can know the value of your worth if you just put down the measuring stick.\u201d <\/p>\n<\/p>\n
