The bright orb may steal some of the Lyrids\u2019 thunder, but experts have some tips on how best to view the celestial spectacle.    <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph inline-placeholder\" data-uri=\"cms.cnn.com\/_components\/paragraph\/instances\/clv5jqvh8000c3b5vrkaah247@published\" data-editable=\"text\" data-component-name=\"paragraph\" data-article-gutter=\"true\">            The Lyrid meteor shower will be most active Sunday night through the early morning hours of Monday, according to the&nbsp;American Meteor Society. And&nbsp;April\u2019s full moon, also known as the pink moon, reaches the crest of its full phase at&nbsp;7:49 p.m. ET&nbsp;Tuesday.    <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph inline-placeholder\" data-uri=\"cms.cnn.com\/_components\/paragraph\/instances\/clv5jqvh8000d3b5v2d9jm976@published\" data-editable=\"text\" data-component-name=\"paragraph\" data-article-gutter=\"true\">            During the Lyrids\u2019 peak, onlookers typically catch a glimpse of up to 18 meteors per hour, but this year&nbsp;the moon\u2019s brightness will interfere with the sighting of faint meteors. The&nbsp;shower will be most visible to folks in the Northern Hemisphere, said Ashley King, a postdoctoral researcher of planetary sciences at London\u2019s Natural History Museum. The Lyrids\u2019 radiant, or the point the meteors appear to originate from, will not rise high enough in the Southern Hemisphere\u2019s night sky for high rates of meteors to be seen, he explained.    <\/p>\n<h3 class=\"subheader\" data-editable=\"text\" data-uri=\"cms.cnn.com\/_components\/subheader\/instances\/clv5jqvh8000e3b5vx6hy1188@published\" data-component-name=\"subheader\" id=\"how-to-catch-sight-of-a-lyrid-meteor\" data-article-gutter=\"true\">    How to catch sight of a Lyrid meteor<\/h3>\n<p class=\"paragraph inline-placeholder\" data-uri=\"cms.cnn.com\/_components\/paragraph\/instances\/clv5jqvh9000f3b5v0jd32tlm@published\" data-editable=\"text\" data-component-name=\"paragraph\" data-article-gutter=\"true\">            Night owls aiming to view the Lyrids will need to let their eyes adjust by going outside at least 10 to 15 minutes before trying to spot a meteor, King added. Any full moon may occasionally take on a reddish hue when near the horizon, due to light passing through Earth\u2019s atmosphere.    <\/p>\n<div data-uri=\"cms.cnn.com\/_components\/related-content\/instances\/clv5k0sm500063b5v7mqnbp6s@published\" class=\"related-content_full-width related-content_full-width--article\" data-article-gutter=\"true\">\n<div class=\"related-content_full-width__image image__related-content\">            <\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p class=\"paragraph inline-placeholder\" data-uri=\"cms.cnn.com\/_components\/paragraph\/instances\/clv5jqvh9000m3b5vuyonvpjy@published\" data-editable=\"text\" data-component-name=\"paragraph\" data-article-gutter=\"true\">            The pink moon actually got its moniker due to its annual appearance not long after the start of spring, much like its namesake, a hot pink wildflower called&nbsp;Phlox subulata&nbsp;that blooms in early springtime, according to The Old Farmer\u2019s Almanac.    <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph inline-placeholder\" data-uri=\"cms.cnn.com\/_components\/paragraph\/instances\/clv5jqvh9000n3b5vmljljzwh@published\" data-editable=\"text\" data-component-name=\"paragraph\" data-article-gutter=\"true\">            It\u2019s best to view the full moon with binoculars, or even just the naked eye, as it might be too bright to view through a telescope, Hayne said.    <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph inline-placeholder\" data-uri=\"cms.cnn.com\/_components\/paragraph\/instances\/clv5jqvh9000o3b5vax596or1@published\" data-editable=\"text\" data-component-name=\"paragraph\" data-article-gutter=\"true\">            \u201cOur closest celestial neighbor has played a starring role in both human mythologies and the evolution of life on Earth.
