Initially also a car dealership, it evolved into a platform that connects people looking to rent out their vehicles with people who want to hire them.    <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph inline-placeholder vossi-paragraph-primary-core-light\" data-uri=\"cms.cnn.com\/_components\/paragraph\/instances\/cm1g948zp00053b6mwdpyqcai@published\" data-editable=\"text\" data-component-name=\"paragraph\" data-article-gutter=\"true\">            \u201cI think I was about 19 or 20 at the time,\u201d Arinze recalls. \u201cI was just doing it because it was fun, and it did bring some money, but then it grew a lot larger than I expected. I started getting consistent customers.    <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph inline-placeholder vossi-paragraph-primary-core-light\" data-uri=\"cms.cnn.com\/_components\/paragraph\/instances\/cm1g948zp00063b6m6d4w51hz@published\" data-editable=\"text\" data-component-name=\"paragraph\" data-article-gutter=\"true\">            \u201cI started my business with zero money; the only thing that I had leverage upon was connections. While there are established car rental companies in Nigeria, such as Hertz and Budget, Autogirl\u2019s vehicles come with drivers, and Arinze says her company offers a greater range of cars and \u201ccompetitive prices.\u201d    <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph inline-placeholder vossi-paragraph-primary-core-light\" data-uri=\"cms.cnn.com\/_components\/paragraph\/instances\/cm1g948zp00083b6mzrk5q6wa@published\" data-editable=\"text\" data-component-name=\"paragraph\" data-article-gutter=\"true\">            One of the cheapest rentals on Autogirl\u2019s website at the time of writing was a Hyundai, priced at 45,000 naira ($27) per day, and one of the most luxurious was a 2018 Lexus, costing approximately 2.85 million Naira ($1,722) per day. The company lists the average income for its vehicle owners as 7 million naira ($4,230) per car.    <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph inline-placeholder vossi-paragraph-primary-core-light\" data-uri=\"cms.cnn.com\/_components\/paragraph\/instances\/cm1g8t2pq00003b6m5ppwazu7@published\" data-editable=\"text\" data-component-name=\"paragraph\" data-article-gutter=\"true\">            As her side hustle grew into a thriving business, Arinze realized she couldn\u2019t do things alone.    <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph inline-placeholder vossi-paragraph-primary-core-light\" data-uri=\"cms.cnn.com\/_components\/paragraph\/instances\/cm1g948zp000a3b6mgxguplh9@published\" data-editable=\"text\" data-component-name=\"paragraph\" data-article-gutter=\"true\">            \u201cFor a good few years, it was just me. I was the secretary, I was the social media manager, I was everything \u2026 I was working around the clock,\u201d says Arinze, now aged 26. \u201cThe only time I wasn\u2019t working was when I was sleeping and even then, if a customer had an issue at night, I was the only person, so I\u2019d be the one they would call and I\u2019d have to resolve it.    <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph inline-placeholder vossi-paragraph-primary-core-light\" data-uri=\"cms.cnn.com\/_components\/paragraph\/instances\/cm1g948zp000b3b6miz3gxghe@published\" data-editable=\"text\" data-component-name=\"paragraph\" data-article-gutter=\"true\">            \u201cI had to start bringing people on. I brought (on) a social media manager, an admin manager, finance people and an operations team that works 24\/7.\u201d    <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph inline-placeholder vossi-paragraph-primary-core-light\" data-uri=\"cms.cnn.com\/_components\/paragraph\/instances\/cm1g948zp000c3b6m1tat0u2k@published\" data-editable=\"text\" data-component-name=\"paragraph\" data-article-gutter=\"true\">            Now, with more than 3,000 customers, and more than 12,000 rides under its belt, Autogirl also offers boat and even private jet rentals through its website. This June, the company expanded into Ghana and plans to launch in Benin later this year.    <\/p>\n<h2 class=\"subheader inline-placeholder\" data-editable=\"text\" data-uri=\"cms.cnn.com\/_components\/subheader\/instances\/cm1g9mw9w00133b6mdewbd2ra@published\" data-component-name=\"subheader\" id=\"empowering-women\" data-article-gutter=\"true\">        Empowering women<\/h2>\n<p class=\"paragraph inline-placeholder vossi-paragraph-primary-core-light\" data-uri=\"cms.cnn.com\/_components\/paragraph\/instances\/cm1g948zp000d3b6mpztzfyig@published\" data-editable=\"text\" data-component-name=\"paragraph\" data-article-gutter=\"true\">            Arinze concedes that it hasn\u2019t always been easy for her to work in a male-dominated industry. She says she took classes in auto mechanics and produced social media reviews of cars to demonstrate that she knew what she was doing: \u201cI showed them I had knowledge and then people would say, \u2018Oh, she\u2019s not a clueless young girl.\u2019\u201d    <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph inline-placeholder vossi-paragraph-primary-core-light\" data-uri=\"cms.cnn.com\/_components\/paragraph\/instances\/cm1g9lu6j000t3b6m1ac5x2sl@published\" data-editable=\"text\" data-component-name=\"paragraph\" data-article-gutter=\"true\">            To encourage other women to follow her path, Arinze recently launched the Autogirl Women Empowerment Programme, which offers free classes in driving, mechanics and affiliate marketing, and hopes to also provide internship opportunities.
